Creating blue firey text
Category: Tutorials / Photoshop
In this tutorial we learn how to make a nice blue fire effect which can easily be altered to match any color scheme on your site if needed. First open a new document and fill the background with a black. Next type your word in white and then flatten the image (Layer > Flatten Image).
Now rotate the image 90° CW (Edit > Transform > Rotate 90° CW)
Once complete, we need to filter the image 2 times with the Wind utility (Filter > Stylize > Wind).
Now rotate the image back to its original state and perform a Diffuse filter (Filter > Stylize > Diffuse).
In order for the flame not to look pixilated we need to give it a Gaussion Blur of 1 pixel (Filter > Blur > Gaussion Blur) so it''s a more solid image.
Another important thing we must do to give the flame a more realistic look is give it a sort of curved flow, to do this we will use the Ripple utility at 100% (Filter > Distort > Ripple).
We have now completed the flame structure. Our next step is to ad the blue tint to the flame. To do this we went to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation and used the following settings: Hue 210, Saturation 100 and Lightness 0.
Our Final step is to make a new layer of text, make sure you have the same font and size as your previous word and retype it in black this time. Now place the new word over the white space and you have your completed image!
